Optional Field Tour: Fire in Oak Forests
Visit the Hitz Rhodehamel Woods Nature Preserve and see how reintroduction of a fire regime, mid-story removal and invasive species control have restored a dry-mesic oak woodland and improved habitat for wildlife, stimulated the forest understory and impacted timber value. Local professionals and some of our speakers will be on hand to discuss the site and impacts to the forest.
